From Pilot to Proof
Explore how communities have tested innovative solutions in real-world conditions—and how those pilots are creating the evidence, confidence, and insight needed to support broader adoption.
Why These Case Studies Matter
Communities rarely want to be the first to test a new solution without evidence that it can work in practice. These case studies help make innovation more actionable by showing how other cities and partners have piloted new approaches, what they learned, and what that success can make possible elsewhere.
For communities exploring what is possible, this library is designed to surface relevant ideas, highlight real-world outcomes, and build confidence that innovative solutions can be tested thoughtfully and effectively.

Featured Case Studies
These examples show how communities of different sizes and contexts across Leading Cities' global network—from urban centers to smaller and more rural places—have tested new solutions to address resilience, infrastructure, mobility, and public-space challenges.

Climate Resilience
WEO x Dargo, Australia
Through a pilot in Dargo, Australia, WEO helped the community visualize previously undocumented climate risks by combining satellite analysis with local knowledge. The project enabled the town to map exposure across priority areas and continues to support ongoing resilience planning.

Mobility
HAH Parking x New Bedford
HAH Parking partnered with the City of New Bedford to pilot a smart parking solution designed to improve parking management and reduce congestion. The project helped the city test how digital tools could improve curb space utilization while lowering operational costs.

Energy / Education
itselectric x Boston
In Boston, itselectric piloted a curbside EV charging solution designed for dense urban neighborhoods where off-street parking is limited. The model allows chargers to be installed using nearby building power while creating a revenue-sharing opportunity for property owners and the city.
More Deployments Underway
These projects are currently underway or preparing to launch in real-world environments. As implementation progresses and results are documented, full case studies will be added to this library to expand the evidence available to future communities.

Climate Resilience
Syrinx x New Zealand
In New Zealand, Syrinx is piloting its EnPhytoBox®, a modular, nature-based water treatment system inspired by wetland ecosystems. The solution treats polluted water sources using natural filtration processes, helping communities improve water quality and strengthen climate resilience.

Cybersecurity
Infiltron x Abuja
In Abuja, Nigeria, Infiltron is piloting its cybersecurity platform to help protect critical urban infrastructure, including energy systems and public utilities. The project focuses on strengthening resilience by securing both modern smart systems and legacy infrastructure.
