A coastal erosion monitoring and mitigation solution
No-Cost Project Description
RCOAST equips coastal communities with their own data-driven coastal science team, using high-resolution drone and geospatial analytics to measure how well erosion mitigation strategies are actually working. Through advanced LiDAR–RGB monitoring and performance scoring, RCOAST helps cities move from anecdotal evidence to clear, actionable insights, showing what works, what doesn’t, and where to invest next to protect shorelines and public resources.
The 15-month no-cost, low-risk project includes baseline coastal assessments, seasonal drone monitoring, data analysis, and decision-support reporting. Communities can expect:

Eight high-resolution LiDAR–RGB drone surveys across two coastal sites to track erosion and mitigation performance.

Performance scores and ROI metrics for each mitigation strategy, identifying the most cost-effective approaches.

Interactive 4D visualizations and communication graphics for internal planning and public transparency.

A comprehensive final report to support grant applications, regulatory reporting, and long-term resilience planning.
All equipment and monitoring technology remain the property of RCOAST during the project period. Communities must select two mitigation sites, provide site access and coordination support, and designate a primary point of contact for collaboration. The project concludes with a final workshop and delivery of all datasets, analysis, and recommendations, with options for continued monitoring and long-term partnership.
